Small Finance Banks (SFB) have twin objectives of providing an institutional mechanism for promoting rural and semi urban savings and for providing credit for viable economic activities in the local areas including basic banking service of acceptance of deposits and lending.
The intention is to provide Financial Inclusion to sections of the economy not being served by other banks, such as Small Business Entities, Small and Marginal Farmers, Micro and Small Industries, Unorganised Sector Entities etc. RBI regulations mandate SFBs to have 75% of its net credits in Priority Sector and 50% of the loans in its portfolio to be in ₹25 lakh range.
Mr. Ponnuraj Ponnudurai was Sr. VP, Retail Institutional Sales with Kotak Mahindra Bank, where he worked for 12 years in areas like Business Intellegence Unit & Customer Value Management besides others. Mr. Ponnuraj Ponnudarai has spent equal number of years in new generation private sector banks like IDBI Bank, ICICI Bank and Times Bank. Mr. Ponnuraj is looking after Western India in states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh. Prior to joining AU Small Finance Bank.
